Fantasy movies are movies with extraordinary topic. The history of fantasy movies is as old as the medium itself. The field of fantasy movies that has become more fashionable in recent years is modern-day Fantasy. The modern day fantasy movies or the contemporary fantasy feature mysterious effects or supernatural events happening in the "real" world of today. The most famous example in the early 21st century is the Harry Potter series of movies adapted from the novels of J. K. Rowling. In cinema, the fantasy movies have not been considered as highly as the associated field of science fiction movie. There is no doubt that just because of the inferior production values the fantasy movies often suffered from the "Sword and Sandal" and this is a fact that over-the-top acting and decidedly poor special effects was a major issue in fantasy movie's low regard. Even 1981's Raiders of the Lost Ark, which did much to improve the genres. The major hits in fantasy movie field are: Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, The Dark Is Rising, Lost Horizon, Jungle Book and many more. There are many movies which are do not feel like fantasy movies yet both feature supernatural elements and the latter movie could reasonably be cited as an example of Bangsian fantasy.
